Half Day Visit

Angkor Wat & Sunset at Bakheng

Time: 08:00 – 12:00

Angkor Wat is an amazing sight, both artistically and of course architecturally. Many say this is not only the most massive religious monument in the world, but of all the temples Angkor Wat is the most fascinating. There are almost 2,000 individual and distinct Apsara carvings decorating every wall of this massive temple. There is nowhere else that you can find such magnificent examples of Angkorian art than in these Apsara carvings.

The last part of your half-day Siem Reap private tour will be a climb up to Phnom Bakheng hill to take in the incredible view of the sunset. This is the best vantage point as the temple is at the very top of the hill. To make this even better, you will see the spectacular expanse of the entire Angkor Wat complex as you peer down from high above.

South Gate & Central Angkor Thom

Time: 12:00 – 17:00

This is the first half-day option as part of the second and third half-day options for seeing the Grand Circle and Roluos Group. These are the main temple sights that travelers are recommended to visit while touring Siem Reap, Cambodia.

This half-day option is planned by our professional concierge team as the smartest way to visit the temples in Siem Reap, the ones closest to each other, so that you can save time and see as many temples as possible in the time you have.

You will first visit Bayon on your half-day Angkor Wat private tour, which is also called Angkor Thom (“big city”). You will tour the temple’s most famously unique features, including a series of spectacular stone faces, all with serene looking expressions and smiles. These are carved into a multitude of stone towers that jut out of the uppermost terrace and converge around the central peak.

Next, you will proceed to a temple nearby called the Terrace of the Elephants. What is so impressive about this temple is its 300-meter long wall that runs along the terrace and measures 2.5 meters tall. This magnificent wall is covered with carved elephants mixed in with huge mythical birds called “garudas.” The wall spans the entire front sides of Baphuon and Phimeanakas and continues on to the Royal Palace area as well, which is situated at the center Bayon. From there, you will move on to the northern part of the Terrace of the Elephants where you’ll find the Terrace of the Leper King.

The ruins at Ta Prohm are absolutely gorgeous, like nothing you’ve ever seen. The spreading roots of gigantic banyan and kapok trees created the entire scene as they grew over all the stones, causing the terraces to break apart from the intertwined limbs, with the leaves forming a roof while the tree trunks twist and turn around the stone pillars.
